Angel Food Ministries: Helping to Make Ends Meet

September 2, 2010

Angel Food Ministries is a national non profit organization that works with a number of local churches and other groups to make good food available to families at discounted prices.

Angel Food Ministries gets their food from the same suppliers as local grocery stores.

By buying food in bulk and taking advantage of volunteers at key points in the distribution process, we can deliver food to you at 40-50% off what you would pay in local stores.

Who is eligible?
Everyone.

Seriously. Everyone.
If you eat, you qualify for Angel Food. (Some of us are overqualified.)

There are no income restrictions, no residency requirements, and no order limits.

Buy as much as you can store and use.

Everyone is feeling the pinch of today’s economy. For many families, Angel Food can help.

How does it work?
Angel Food orders are placed on line using the Angel Food web site, or in person at a local host site.
Orders must be paid for when the order is placed.

One Saturday each month is designated as the distribution day. Customers visit their host site during the posted hours and pick up their pre-paid orders.

Most host sites are set up to take your orders for the next month when you pick up your order.

You can visit the Angel Food web site at http://www.angelfoodministries.com to:

What comes in an Angel Food order?
The Angel Food menu changes each month, and there are a variety of offerings.

The signature boxes come in three sizes and are designed to help a family build daily meals around nutritious, high quality ingredients. They include meats, vegetables and some starches.

The convenience meal boxes are specially balanced frozen dinners. They are filling and tasty, with reduced levels of fat, sodium and carbohydrates, making them suitable for customers with heart, weight and blood sugar issues.

The Just 4 Me after school boxes make getting snacks for the kids after school easier.

The specialty boxes feature meats, vegetables and other offerings to help round out the menu and make special occasions more special.

Finding a host site.
Finding a host site is simple. Just visit the Angel Food Ministries web site at http://www.angelfoodministries.com and click on the Find a local Site link. You can search for host sites by the site name, city and state, or zip code.

There two sites here in Lakewood, and scores of others sites in the Cleveland area and the the surrounding communities. Find the host site which is convenient for you.

By clicking on the host site link, you will get information on their location as well as ordering and distribution times.
