Our Mission:
“The Lakewood Family Collaborative is a group of agencies, organizations and concerned individuals working together to make sure a network of services and supports are available and accessible to children, youth and families.”
Program Year 2011-2012 Focus:
“Strengthening the connections between all who live, work and play in our Lakewood”
Goals: 1. Increase membership and awareness within the Lakewood community.
2. Motivate members to participate in Collaborative activities.
3. Educate members on how to connect and reach out amongst each other for information, ideas and general support.

Introductions – Introductions were made via the Acronym Game.
Spotlight and Discussion – Shelly Napolitan, Lakewood Community Services Center (LCSC) –
LCSC has been serving the community by providing basic needs assistance since 1982. LCSC served over 7,000 individuals in 2011, and the number of persons needing assistance has increased annually each of the last four years. Four areas of assistance that LCSC provides are:
1) Emergency Food Assistance – (food pantry, delivery to seniors, free farmers market, community garden, coordination of Lakewood Community Meals)
2) Homeless Prevention / Housing – point of access for residents who qualify for rent/utility assistance
3) Referral & Linkage to other agencies/resources
4) No Cost Onsite Support – (legal assistance w/civil matters, tenant/landlord issue resolution, food stamp applications)

Spring Awakening Rocks Beck’s Main Stage Collaboration brings Baldwin-Wallace Music Theatre Program to Lakewood
January 21, 2012
In collaboration with Baldwin-Wallace College Music Theatre Program, the Beck Center for the Arts presents the Tony Award-winning rock musical, Spring Awakening, February 3 through March 4, 2012 on the Mackey Main Stage. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are now on sale.
Based on the controversial play by Frank Wedekind, Spring Awakening explores with passion and poignancy the turbulent journey from adolescence to adulthood. This landmark musical swept the 2007 Tony Awards winning eight out of its eleven nominations, including Best Musical and Best Score. With book and lyrics by Steven Sater and music by Duncan Sheik, Spring Awakening is an exhilarating mix of morality, sexuality, and rock & roll. This production includes adult language and nudity and is recommended for mature audiences ages 17 and older.
Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for seniors (65 and older) and $17 for students (with valid ID). An additional $3 service fee per ticket is applied at the time of purchase. Preview Night on Thursday, February 2 is $10 with general admission seating. Group discounts are available for parties of 13 or more. Beck Teen Theater presents Reckless by Craig Lucas
A darkly comic tale of a modern-day Alice in a perilous winter wonderland
Beck Teen Theater presents Reckless by Tony nominated playwright, Craig Lucas in the Studio Theater, February 24 through March 4, 2012. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. There is a special 10 a.m. student matinee Thursday, March 1.
Directed by Jonathan Kronenberger, Beck Center’s associate director of theater education, Reckless is an absurdist midwinter night’s dream comedy that features a talented cast of 17 teenage actors who are students at the Beck Center.
At home on Christmas Eve, Rachel is informed by her guilt-ridden husband that he has hired a hit man to kill her. Distraught, she flees for her life by scrambling out the bedroom window and into the snowy night. Rachel’s adventure takes her from town to town where she meets a variety of crazy, colorful characters and encounters an endless series of incredible coincidences.

We have teamed up with the Lake Erie Monsters to educate our community’s teens! The arena will be a buzz as we honor outstanding teen leaders from the Greater Cleveland Area during pregame.
